Basic European 8-in-1 Maille
The weave can be used for just about
anything!
Results in a VERY dense weave!
If you are familiar with the 4-in-1
or 6-in-1 weave this will be simple!
Even beginners will find it an
easy pattern to 'see'.
Example created using 3/8" 16ga
(0.060") Aluminum rings.
1. Start with eight closed rings and a single
open ring.
2. Join the closed rings with
the open ring and lay as shown.
3. Loop 2 closed rings through an open
ring. (Adding a row)
4. Close the open ring through
the lower three rings on both the left and right columns as shown.
5. Continue steps 3&4 to achieve the
desired length.
6. Here i finish the ends by adding rings
to the top and bottom of the center column
until the last ring links the final two rings
on each side.
7. Adding the next column should be fairly
simple (follow the path of its adjacent ring)
The end rings link 3 of the previous column,
while those in the center link 4.
8. Continue adding columns until you reach your
desired width.
The end rings link 2 and 3 rings of the previous
column respectively, while those in the center link 4.
